Re: Hi Guys Help me PLz

Hi Andy. So lets look at your options. You could learn off the net, and sign up with one of the many sites that teach you how to play guitar. There is infact one member on this site that has a guitar teaching site. There are pros and cons to learning online, and many limitations. You could look through your local paper, or go to your local music shop, where i am sure that you will find a decent guitar teacher who will be reasonably priced. Check his/her qualifications, and track record, and make sure he is suitable to your needs and requirements. Pick a teacher who teaches for a living, rather than a cheap part time teacher, as there are many cowboys out there.
There is of course the Adult Education route.  This is how i learned to play guitar(well that and a few guitar friends). It will be your cheapest option, and you will socialize with other people in the same position as you, it is a fantastic way to learn, andyou will make many friends.

I myself am a guitar teacher, and teach privately and at Adult Education, and so feel suitably qualified to comment, and advise. And my advise is find a real teacher, either one to one, or in an evening class, where you will get questions answered immediately, and personal guidance, and feedback.

Good Luck. Rick.

Id say try 2 or 3 guitar lessons to see if thats your best way to learn. If it works out, great. If not try books as there is some great stuff out there. Also just pick songs that you want to play and search for decent guitar tab online or in books / mags. The process of learning new songs will help you explore the guitar neck.

There does come a point where technical problems to do with how you play will hinder you so find a good teacher to help iron these out.

Looking for a new guitar that suits your needs? Support your local guitar shop while its still in business!

Yeah!  default/wink Teaching/learning yourself is a lot of fun! Learning the ultra basics is easy and you can do it on the net, and then you can try jamming to your favourite songs. It's a lot of fun.

I think before going to an institution maybe you should explore the basic lessons on the internet. Having a basic idea will help you to capture what is taught at the institute quickly.
