Guitar Machines

Are there any guitar machines? Machines that play guitar 'sounds' rather than drum/cymbal/percussion/bass sounds?

Pickups

How about circular pickups? And other shapes?

Or a pickup on a wire that connects to a socket on the guitar body? There would be some way(s) of attaching the pickup to objects, such as a spinning washing machine.

Effects

<t>Might it be possible for guitar effects to be 'personalised' to individual strings? the effects unit would need to recognise the note(s) played and the string(s) played. Perhaps through string gauge. Is there already anything like this? I've tried working out how many combinations there would be ...

Tuning

<t>An idea. Perhaps I can be pointed towards albums where this has been done?<br/>

A 6-string electric guitar. The top 2 strings tuned to D and the remaining strings tuned to E. With Bottom E strings for all 6 strings. So, if the first 4 strings on one fret are held and all 6 strings played ...

Hello

<t>Hi all,<br/>
<br/>
first time here and in any guitar forum. I searched through Ask.com and saw and liked the word "friendly" as a description of the Forum. I'm not a guitarist but I have tinkered with a cheap 6-string electric and from that some questions have arisen (is "arisen" a word?). I hope ...
