Are there any guitar machines? Machines that play guitar 'sounds' rather than drum/cymbal/percussion/bass sounds?

How about circular pickups? And other shapes?
Or a pickup on a wire that connects to a socket on the guitar body? There would be some way(s) of attaching the pickup to objects, such as a spinning washing machine.
