Topic: ESP Ltd KH202

Well when I wanted to get a new guitar to replace my rather awful cheap starter one, being a metal fan, I know I wanted something with double humbuckers, and started to look at the guitars metal bands used.

I decided I liked the look of the ESP guitars, but was struggling to find any local dealers that stocked them, and I didn't want to use mail order without trying them. So went to a guitar shop in Kendal (Mad Monks Music), who had a couple of ESP's on their site.

I tried an Ibanez guitar, and my lovely ESP KH202 (which is a Kirk Hammett signature guitar) when I played it, I loved it, I liked the sound, and having small hands I found the slim profile neck made it a lot easier to play.

So it came home with me, and I played it constantly, I like the deep sound that it gives, it sounds great with distortion, (the humbuckers are EMG's), and sounds good clean too.

As you would probably guess the guitar is black, and the fret board has skull and crossbone inlays.  the body is mahogany, which I find gives a good tone, and the fretboard is rosewood.

The only draw back was that the floyd rose made it a nightmare to quickly go into Drop D, and restringing a lot more difficult.

So I then bought a Schecter to keep in drop D, and as lovely a guitar as it is, I still preferred the ESP, so did some research and hardtailed it, which is now brilliant, as I can easily change tunings, and restringing is much more straightforwards.

Now if only it made me play like Kirk Hammett....
