Hi Swampy

I retired a few years ago and wanted another hobby apart from fishing, by the way I run the website for our fishing club, why not have a look its www.dellangling.co.uk (I,m in the members gallery section almost at the bottom of the page with a blue striped shirt with my biggest ever fish)
I have purchased a cheap electric guitar and amp to see how I get on with it, maybe if I do OK I'll treat myself to a decent guitar.
So now I have two hobbies to keep me going. I don't miss work one little bit!!!

I started playing guitar in High School after I heard the first Crosby,Stills,Nash album. It was the mixture of acoustic ,electric guitar, and vocal harmonies that thrilled me.I've been playing guitar for about 40 years and I'm a singer songwriter when my day job gives me time off...

It all started in the 80's around the Countries fishing ports, mainly in small village halls, you needed an Oyster card to get in to the venues, just heard there's a gig tonight, but it's sick squid to get in,

I decided to get into guitar after hearing how much my brother has improved over the last few years. Thought if he can do it why can't I. We'll see how that theory works out :D

I was round a friends and he was showing me his guitar and Marshall. I just had to get an electric after that, I had acoustics before but the electric was what did it for me. Then I got into AC/DC and the rest is history.

I was 14 and listening to Queen's 'A kind of magic' album, The opening Riff to 'One Vision' was enough for me to start me on a long and sometimes obsesive journey.

I find it good fun.I tried learning the guitar with books, but as a householder, things like entertainment got put on hold.I found out about Rocksmith at work, and found it more enjoyable than just learning from books. It doesn`t actually teach you how to play as such.I found out more by watching a clip of Flea showing the walking technique and others. So while it has made learning fun, i will still need to learn a lot by myself.(or with the forums help)

I got my first guitar (A Squier Strat) when i was 13. I was in love with rock and heavy metal and i wanted to make a noise like that. Unfortunately, i soon got tired of simply banging the strings and making a terrible sound and i gave up on learning to play. I then tried again when i was about 18/19, and i played (badly) in a local band, being taught by the lead guitarist along the way. Unfortunately, we lost contact and i was back at square one. It's only in the last few years that i've actually rekindled my love of the guitar and learning how to play more properly. I kinda teach myself and it's slow going, but i genuinely love every minute of playing guitar. I'm influenced by Megadeth, Queen, the blues and all kinds of stuff. I play a Road worn Tele, and my pride and joy is a USA Jackson KV2. I don't care how bad i am......it's enjoyable!

I got my guitar at 12, i was inspired by BRYAN ADAMS back then and later on progressed to "Erick johnson" and Clapton, Buddy Guy, Mark Knophler... I was amazed by the vision of holding a guitar in front of full arena.. i wish i had that kinda fan following..
