guitar hiss

Post by gibby »

hi, i recently started playing guitar, I'm using a Les Paul tribute with a marshall mg30gfx amp.The problem i have is the hiss form the amp on od channels. i recently got myself an isp decimator micro, but I've found that with the decimator on as soon as my hands go towards the guitar i have the hiss there.even when picking the the strings its like a thud noise.

BRIEFLY : make sure your guitar is turned up max then adjust amp for required max volume for that space
you can then use the vol on your git to back it off a bit
IE.the higher you turn up your amp/fx the greater the hiss and noise

overdrive uses hell of a lot gain which produces a lot of hiss
a noise gate might be a good investment if you want that type of sound

I've tried all that even the isp decimate makes it worse?

if you plug your git ( thats turned full up ) into your amp thats adjusted for normal volume
how much hiss is there? ( no pedals )
Q : out of interest how long have you been playing ?
you might like to try plugging your git into a mates amp to see if its working

I've taken it to a local music shop and he agreed it sounds terrible then tested it a found an earthling issue.
