Do you really need all them fancy knobs on your guitar amp

My amp is basic so I thought I'd ask that question. I know these days you can buy some low end amps with a lot of toys on them so why not buy it.

I kind of like a simple amp and buy a few pedal to suite my playing

I would rather know that the money I was spending on an amp went into producing a quality amp and not an amp with a load of substandard gadgets within.

I definitely would prefer simple quality amp, then choose my own pedals etc to colour the sound!
