Help for a newb.

Post by jamesd74 »

If you read my introduction post you will know that I have been looking for advice on a ESP LTD 100 MH. Any how after 30 hours grovelling to the wife I have been and bought it today. I can not pick it up till the 24th September due to the guitar been over my budget. The chance of paying for lessons is slim to none so any Tabs and advice for a beginner would be very welcome.

Well done for getting your own way!

There is literally thousands of resources online for learning the guitar and I for one, and I am sure I am not alone here, is more than happy to help you out on this forum.

What kind of stuff do you want to get started with?

Hi

Thanks for getting back to me, i love AC/DC with a passion. I would love to learn "You shook me all night long" I also like "Clapton" anything that is rock based is good for me.

That's good as you could very quickly be playing AC/DC and it sounding pretty accurate! I think there is a decent backing track of back in black which I will try to locate the link for you!

http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/

It is on the front page of this site as I guess others find it popular too! There are loads of other tracks on here. Some are good, others a pretty rubbish but definitely something to get you started!

Hard Rock characterizes the album, 'For those about to rock we salute you'. Yes, jamesd74, Clapton is a nice choice as Erci is highly influential on the rising guitarists.

Are you planning to learn to read music or will you be sticking to tablature? (or is this all Greek?)

I've been practicing a lot on this website back when I was learning the guitar, and I'm still using it today on stage:

http://www.karaoke-version.co.uk/custombackingtrack/

Loads of standards, from AC/DC to BB King, and you can customize the tracks online for your instrument (even lead or rythm guitar).

It's quite a high price for a backing track but it is definitely worth it!
