How Many of You Play Live?

Post by olly »

In the 18 odd years I have been playing guitar I have only once played in front of an audience and that was when I made made to when I was about 11 year old in middle school.

Me and a friend played cats in the cradle in school assembly and I was petrified.

Since then I have only ever really played in front of one or two close friends since then and even then I do not feel that comfortable with it.

I have only been in a two bands. One band lasted a few weeks as none of the members (apart from me) regularly turned up on time for practice, if they even turned up at all.

The next band was much better but there was already another guitarist and the music didn't really call for two so I felt like a bit of a spare part that didn't do a lot.

So now I reside to playing guitar alone which I am quite happy with for now.

So how many of you play live and how often? Do you play for free or do you make a bit from playing?

I think playing live would be the greatest thing to do if one has the talent
But for me I'm just a living room player and quite content with that
my lyrics, my guitar and my imagination

John - you certainly have the talent! Do you ever play in front of friends and/or family?

I've played live a couple of times, but not in the last ten years, one was in a pub open mic night, with a female singer, We got invited back, but she moved :( And I played in a band for awhile but we only did the one live gig, for charity, also played with a couple of bands in garages and porta kabins, all good fun and experience.
I didn't get where I am today,
by being somewhere else.
