the truth about immigration
my lyrics, my guitar and my imagination
I have to disagree.
I was pretty shocked at Chancellor Merkel's unhelpful comments when the story broke but it makes perfect sense - there is a huge (and I mean HUGE) level of anti-immigration sentiment in Germany at the moment (something like 30% of Germans believe the country is overrun with foreigners) so it's no real surprise that Mrs Merkel should try and curry favour with such a large proportion of voters.
At a time when other EU governments are trying to encourage the free movement of labour, Mrs Merkel's comments are quite unwelcome.
