Need some ideas on how best to teach a 6 year old
I have a six year old lad who comes to me for half hour lessons. I show him chords using the top 4 strings only (he's left handed and parents cant find a 3/4 size guitar in lefty) and we do some songs which he seems to enjoy. I just feel Id like to at least start progressing him on more interesting things but lacking ideas.

I have a similar problem. I have a 6 year old student who is a little sponge when it comes to information but the physical aspect of playing the guitar is elusive. I'm trying to find ways around this but am struggling.
She has a toy guitar at present which is obviously not up to the job. Maybe with a better guitar she will be able to produce a decent sound although it is a gamble for the parents to buy a guitar which she still might not be able to play. On the other hand, if they want her to pursue the guitar then they should invest in a guitar that is up to the job.
I will be having a chat with the parents following her next lesson to discuss this very topic but any advice would obviously be very welcome??
