Gibson or Fender???????????

Post by jamesd74 »

Right guys I am about to take the plunge into a expensive guitar I had settled on a Gibson SG Standard. I love the sound which comes from years of listen to ACDC, (ALL BOW YOUR HEADS TO GODS).

However, this is the problem as my playing as come along I have began to develop my own style and with help of my new modelling Amp hopefully a sound.

I am worried that buying the SG is just paying homage to Angus, (ALL BOW YOUR HEADS TO A GOD), and I am gonna fall out with the guitar as it is not my style and i am just playing what as pleased my ears for soooooo long.

Yet the SG has a very distinctive sound and do love the aggressive shape and the good feeling a suspect would come from owning a Gibson.

Now problem, my mate has an assortment of Fender Jags and Jazzmasters 21 now in total. This guitar shape have got to be the most comfortable I have ever played. There is plenty of support round around your front and this makes getting around the Guitar allot easer, which aids my playing and gives me more confidence, especially with my gamy left hand.

Now the real problem, I was looking at fenders web site when this appeared and I just went "THATS FLIPPING NICE I WANT". This was an instant reaction.

Its a Mustang pawn shop.

From what I can gather its half Jag (front of the body) and half Strat (back of the body)

Thoughts would be appreciated before I take the plunge.

Are there any real differences between the craftsmanship of Fender in regard to Gibson.

I have test both the Gibson Sg and Jag but not the mustang.

Id say they are both flawed and over-rated. Buy a used PRS Custom 24/22 instead. Hardtail, if you want the Angus thing. You'll never need another guitar! :)

yes played the sg and it feels like you are playing a nuclear bomb. Its out of this world it doesn't offer the support that the jags do but it just feels great.

It sounds awesome to.
