If you've got around £400-£500 to spend, to be honest I'd just get the one guitar, and get one with better pick ups etc.

I would EMG's are good pickups for metal too, and much better than those you get on the Omen.

The ESP's are fab but if you want to do alternate tunings its a nightmare - lots of metal is in drop d or c, so a hard tail would be a good option, have a look at this:-

This has got active EMG's, and when I played it in the shop I loved it:-

i recomend playing the guitar on normal tuning if your just learning to play guitar isnt just a bout metal and a droped d tuning is great for slide but in metal its lazy guitar playing baring frets on the droped d and a strings i find that takes away the craft of guitar playing jug jug jug jug jug bar jug jug bar lol a trained monkey could do that thats not guitar playing in my opinion i highly recomend learning to play guitar in normal tunings :)

Might be worth just trying say the Omen 6, and then trying something else in the shop that has EMG's then you can hear the difference.

Apparently Schecter and ESP owned by the same people, and I did read somewhere that some of them are made in the same factory..

Good luck with your search - my purchases were both impulse buys... Went it just to try, compare etc, and well u know how it goes.... :D
