Greenday - 21 Guns help please

I'm really bad at working out strumming patterns, I keep leaving it to my teacher, but really need to try and suss this out for myself, I've got the chords for 21 Guns, I've been listening too it and to me it sounds like DDU on the 1st 3 chords and DDD DU on the C

But when I've found a vid tutorial it says its DDDU on the first 3 - does anyone else have an opinion on this? Or can point me in the right direction? thanks
