This is very dodgy ground, no democracy can work without free press.....

If a law gets passed it could be amended easily, think about the future....MPs not so long ago tried to stop The expense's scandal been dealt with in court... They claimed it was an in house matter....The papers broke that story....

How about this in a few years time Some MP is caught doing a Jimmy Savile.....Ever so quickly, and this has happen in an hour before..An amendment is passed to an existing law stopping the press reporting potentionally character damaging stories regarding MPs.....

The public would have a right to know in a democracy...

It was said a long time ago we were sleep walking into a police state...Well statue governed press isn't sleep walking is taking a big stride with yer eyes wide open.....

I hate to say it but I am right behind Cameron on this one...
Imagine if the words of Imagine ever came true.....

i agree..people definitely need to know whats going on...but the press
are ruining people lives by printing anything they want to sell newspapers
they smash somebody ( wrongfully ) then pay £100,000 pounds damages
...♪o♪ they made £1mill on paper sales..this has got to stop..they've pissed
in the prunes.

the best solution is ...pay victims of 'mispress' more compensation that the tabloids
can afford..then shut them down...responsible reporting will then have to be the norm

I agree something needs to be done but i think the answer lies in the human rights and an amendment to that....

Not state regulated press...

if anybody else says anything out of line they get prosecuted...ie nigger/queer/puff/golliwog etc etc etc
free speech doesn't exist anymore anyway

so why can newspapers print what the f*** they want.......regardless...

shut the bloody lot of them down....or make them responsible for the lies and misery
they're causing mr joe public for the sake of newspaper sales ......not the benefit
of the public at large...Cameron must reap what he has sowed or leave it to the other
bunch of non getters.............LABOUR

Newspapers have actually given up on trying to get new subscriptions where I'm at. Although when you buy a house they seem to be at your door every week for you to subscribe to one.
