pick materials?

what pick materials give electric guitar a brighter sound for licks where you play a few notes on a single string?

i ask because i like my tone when i play chords on my electric and the way it cleans up the softer i play.
but when i play simple solos or licks on a single string it gets too quiet/ not as driven sounding.

so would changing picks help this or should i get a boost pedal? i want to spend the least money possible.

I would just play with amp a bit more.

its sounding a little better after messing with the settings just missing that little extra something
