what are thguitar techniques are used in post hardcore or metal songs?

The only thing i came across of is the use of power chords.

Well I think the best way to break this down is from a writing point of view. When I sit back and contemplate where to begin and the sorts of riffs and style to use when conjuring up a new metal tune there's alot that goes through my mind. I think:
-Tuning, more specifically downtuning
-Shredding, we're getting into "wrecking ball" sweeps, vibrato, and harmonics--downstrumming, palm muting
-Chords, writing riffs and solos off of pentatonic sequences and scales
-Power chords of course, i.e. diads if you're into theory
Have these in your arsenal for sure
