What are the small holes under the pickguard on Fender Strat Bodies, they dont seem to do anything, and nothing seems to go in them.
2 examples here, one with one hole, one with three. Any ideas what they are. Could they be for resonance tuning etc?????
Any ideas??? :? :?

That's interesting you bring that up -
firstly I have no idea regarding what they are for but I am currently in the throws of buying a Les Paul and they currently have parts chambered out to better the tone, which I cannot work out is a good or bad thing older versions have holes in to reduce the weight of them. people have very divided opinions on this.
These holes just look too small to have any massive impact though on either weight (not that they are heavy) or tone so it's a mystery to me.
Perhaps someone else here can help?

That's what I thought. When scanning through the Stratosphere bodies on Ebay, the holes are on 70% of the bodies. Odd.... Too small for tone or weight or even balance. No switches or pots anywhere near????
Mysterious Holes and crop circles..... Aliens !
