Guitar Recording advice

Post by CollumPlz »

Hello, Im a beginner playing for 1 year and I need some help recording a guitar over a backing track. I have a condenser microphone hooked up to my computer however it sounds very odd when I play all the tracks together. My mic is very sensitive and sounds like I’m recording from my phone in a large room. Should I invest in a audio interface or is there a solution to mixing the tracks together. Thanks

rule of thumb
put the mic between 6/12" from the guitar aimed at the 12-15th fret but not at the sound hole ( if acoustic )
make sure you use headphones so you dont need to monitor from your speakers ( turn them of when recording )
you do need some proper interface...see you tube for advice regarding your situation
