What is your opinion about changing pick-ups.

I am either looking for a new guitar, Telecaster, Although I think trying to convince the wife that I need a new one will be imposable. So what do people think about changing the pick-ups to ones with a coil tap.
Will it may give my beefy sounding ESP a nice new twang and a beefy option?

Hi James,

,
Coil taps will certainly thin the sound out, and make for a good tone variation,
But the only way to get the real Twang Thang, is to convince Her indoor's, you need a Tele..

And if she say's No... then scream and scream till you are sick................

I've never tried this particular guitar, but Squier is by Fender, it won't be rubbish....

Have a look at G&L ASAT as well, if you're craving a Tele....The ASAT's little heralded, but, puts most Tele's to shame. While you're at it, note whose company it is...

Had a look thanxs.
The problem I have is most Telecasters out there look dated. However I do like the fender Jim Root, but it has two EMG humbukers which is not the sound I am looking for. My ESP has more beef then a heard of cows.
It is looking increasingly like with the help of my new found friend that I will buy a saga kit and he will paint it a flat white, on the up side my new found friend owns an arts and craft shop. The problem then for me is the neck, the plan could be to try to flatten the kit one or try to retro fit one from a cheap ESP.
