Topic: New learner chick ~_*

default/smile  Hi everyone, I'm Louise and I bought my first guitar. It's a very basic one that I thought I should get whilst I'm just a beginner. If and when I do improve, I shall get a nicer one. Today, is the 2nd day of self-teaching. I'm reading on websites and plan to buy some learner books. My left fingers are hurting but I feel that the worst is yet to come! Can anyone let me know if using nylon strings sounds different to steel strings? The guitar I bought had three steel strings at the top and three nylon strings on the bottom and when I follow DVD tuition, it sounds different to mine. My guitar is fully tuned before I practice. I'm really hoping to improve, albiet slowly. I know it's gonna take a lot of time and patience and practic, but this is something that I've always wanted to learn and I'm determined to do it.

Sounds like you have the right attitude for the job! I'm sure you will find it very rewarding.

You probably do have all nylon strings though generally the thicker three strings have a coiled wire coating - this it totally normal and acceptable.

Any other questions - shoot.
