Topic: Hello there

Hi, I don't normally go on forums but I found myself here this evening after deciding to go exploring to see what places I might find useful as a complete beginner.... and here I am !
After years of saying that I'd like to learn how to play the guitar 'one day' I actually got myself one (thanks Dad -he gave me an old acoustic he had lying around, its got one string missing but I'm on the case with that and it should be sorted in a day or so!) I couldn't resist having a little try though and went on YouTube where I found some good 'complete beginner' tuition to get me (and my 5 strings) started.
I'm going to slope off now and have a browse around, any advice, good websites etc would be most welcome x x

Re: Hello there

hi cariad
1st thing get a new set of strings
then get your guitar checked out so its playable esp the 'action'
get 1 to 1 lessons with a reputable teacher to push you in the right direction
regarding technique and practice regimes

there are some excellent vids on youtube

but
be careful.. if you want to replicate any vids that are posted
let your teacher check them out to make sure they're not encouraging bad habits

Hi Polyal,
Thanks for the advice, I'm on the lookout for a
Tutor- I've heard of one locally so it all sounds good default/smile
