Topic: My first Valve amp including demo

Hi all,

I recently purchased (second hand) a marshall tsl 602 valve combo. Would anyone recommend new valves as they haven't been changed since original purchase and that's 7 years. I will link a video to the sound and a picture of the amp. I just want to get the most out of this beauty. Also the speakers are wolverines and have heard a great deal about the vintage 30s? Will this help with my sound? Many thanks!

Re: My first Valve amp including demo

get some new valves for spares but if it aint broke dont fix it ( IMO )
if you like the sound ( which sounds pretty good to me ) stick with it
+if you do change them you might get a slightly different sound but it wont be any better ( wots better )
its all subjective at the end of the day
if a valve fails / goes noisy then a new one would be required
it seems the  " recommended "  'life span' of a valve is 2years but this is by the manufacturers ..and they would say that
wouldn't they
i have a marshall 50w top ( 70's ) which still sounds great and i cant remember it ever having new valves
or a service..tut tut ( perhaps theres a few more watts i could squeeze out of it...which i dont need )

if you got new valves you could do a comparison test to see the difference

Re: My first Valve amp including demo

Thanks for the reply bud. Thanks for your kind words. I find the wolverine speakers too muddy. Sounds good but i know i can get better out of the amp. I want every note to sing how i want it to sing. I will never just be "that's okay that will have to make do" kinda thing you know. haha
