Topic: Acoustic guitars?

Hey guys im looking to buy an acoustic guitar soon, in about 6 months. I only have about £150 to £200 to spend though so wondering if you guys have any advice? My dad bought a Norman guitar for £300 as he wanted to start learning but he never started, shame really he wont sell it to me either lol.

I never heard of Norman, is it any good? I hear Tanglewood and Crafter are decent, although expensive. Ive also been told not to buy a fender acoustic as they arnt too good? What do you think?

I'm not too sure but I guess the key is to go and play some that fits your budget and see what fits with you..

I recently bought a Dean electro acoustic for just under 300 and it is really nice to play. I always find that instruments become nicer sounding and easier to play after they have been worn in from a few months of hard playing!

I did buy a Yamaha acoustic about 10 years ago for about £100 and I still pick it up and love the sound it makes when I play it

I am sure you can find something pretty decent for that money!

Well my electric is Yamaha and it plays really nice, even the guys i know who have been playing years and are really good confirm its nice to play so im chuffed.

I want one with the cutaway, i was thinking of an electro acoustic but to be honest i dont think i want one now. I like them but they are more expensive plus i wont need to plug it in.

Can i do that then go to a shop and play it before i buy? Really new still to the guitar game lol I think id feel abit of an idiot because id be nervous about just playing a simple song! default/hmm

I fancied one with a slimmer body as well, im only about 5ft six so not got the longest arms to reach over the body! haha cheers Olly.

I also have an Ovation rounded back Electo acoustic. It sounds pretty good and much more comfortable to play and wasn't too expensive - it may suit you! The trouble with the thinner bodies is you lose some depth to the sound so it is a bit of a compromise game!

You sure can go and play at the store - I also felt a bit awkward going in the first time but they are used to a lot of real terrible wannabe guitarists coming in and I am sure they will do their best to m ake you feel comfortable!
