What are your favourite guitar mags?
Mine is Guitarist, I like the articles, and you get a free CD, with demos and techniques, very informative and interesting, but a bit expensive at £5-50p.

I can knot afford one.
The one that I buy twice a year is "Guitar Magazine" that is the Japanese copy and it goes for ¥700
Has some nice training exercises in it too
I don't think they put a DVD in these issues though
Do you read and speak Japanese John???

My level really is just "introductory level", but for the music it is with tab so that is one reason I buy them. Also BB King is getting up there and I feel the issues with him on it are going to be collector magazines and also the same with Eric and Beck seems that is all they post these days on the front cover.
I'm teaching myself how to read and write recently, but I've gotten along ok with out much language skills so far
I used to collect "Guitar World" religiously, for about five years, but then I went on holiday and missed an issue and threw a paddy and got rid of the collection.

Know what you mean I moved a couple of years ago, and gave away 10yrs worth of guitarist and total guitar mags, with a pile of cd's and dvd's, plus the biggest pile of carp fishing mags known to mankind...
Im probably getting old (42) but they all seem to be aimed at young players now. The presentation of mags like Total Guitar look more like Smash Hits to me and are a total turn-off and Guitarist is just plain dull. Ive tended to go for the USA mags instead including Guitar One (now gone sadly) and Guitar World but even that venerable magazine is pretty poor these days. Its all slavering over the studded jock-strap of some 17 year old metal player, who is then replaced in their affections 2 months later by someone similar. Their inclusion of half-naked women wrapped around guitar amps is just plain embarressing too.
Guitar Buyer has a bit of integrity in line with its lower readership and also seems to be honest in gear appraisal.
I've got Total Guitar on subscription (got a nice Guitar Tech distortion pedal when I signed up), I like it, but wished it was a more metal orientated...
Will probably look around at a few others when the subscription is due to renew.
Fpr me it is also Guitarist because of the great informations there..
