Topic: Struggling a little bit.

Think i posted something similar not long back but sorry i cant find it.

Just struggling with how to move on in my learning of guitar as ive kind of hit a plateau. Ive learnt major chords, barre chords, pentatonic scales, string bending and i dont know were to go next. I suppose i could learn some major scales?

If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them...

Just find some good tune's and practice and enjoy them, that's the only place to go, don't just stick around lead and solo's, rhythm and timing are the most important part's to get to grips with.... default/cool

Re: Struggling a little bit.

One thing that I couldn't do was play music on the guitar. I just thought playing guitar was ok, but I think you and I both should start playing music on the guitar. I guess the best way to do it is follow someones example in playing a song, which I been trying to do recently

my lyrics, my guitar and my imagination

Re: Struggling a little bit.

Both posts above provide great advice.

It is too easy to get caught up in learning "things" on the guitar that aren't music and you can get caught in that trap for a long time. Sure it is important to know chords, scales and technique etc but try and do this while learning(or writing) music.

What sort of songs have you been trying to play recently?

Re: Struggling a little bit.

After reading this i went away last night and started learning some fluoerescent adolescent by arctic monkeys and ive nailed the intro so far. Other tham this i learnt the into to BYOB system of a down and the beginning of Sweet Child Of Mine guns and roses. Want to learn some blues but really want to learn some metal mainly.
