Re: how important is being in tune

Tuning is vital in my opinion.

In the past I couldn't understand why one day I played and loved every minute of it - sounding great, and then the next it sounded uninspiring.

Whilst there are other reasons I found out that tiny tuning issues were the main culprit. Often smaller than the tuner would pick up. It could make such a difference!

I don't know.

When I hear early blues tunes, the guitars all sound out of tune to me, but there's "something" about those out of tune guitars and the singing that sound pretty good to me.

Re: how important is being in tune

all the timbres/sound/feel/occasion make up for the tuning...probably if it was perfectly in
tune a lot of the magic would disappear..i really meant modern stuff...i would never keep
a recorded performance ( my own ) if the pitching was an issue

My next guitar will be a hard tale the Floyd Rose is a nightmare to tune but once its there it stays in tune.

Imagine if the words of Imagine ever came true.....
