with that...but there you go....................nowhere

Re: Going Nowhere

nice one... chance of going somewhere now

RE this 'across the internet thing'..(rickyb)
with future songs is there any chance of getting a separate voc and guitar track
...so they can be put in a DAW and mixed with other instruments

if anyone else is interested please post
the main criteria would be ...tuned to standard pitch / played to a click track ( consistent tempo )
and probably an half decent song

what do people think???

Re: Going Nowhere

That great Alun, very different from my recording, and sounds better. Your voice has improved a lot as well. Great stuff, i have always liked this song, the lyrics are poignant and honest. My favourite from all the songs you wrote.

yer I have tones of guitar parts, However, they need putting together. I play to a drum track as I find it gives a better feel to the part when completed.

They would be classed as rhythm parts I think..... It would be great if we could all combine to contribute to a song.

Sort of thing I play... This is an example of the sort of bits I try to put together. It is a very loose editing job. It was done just to see if a song was there that might work.

I think it does. I have lyrics and a melody.

Re: Going Nowhere

Drum loop EZ Drummer
All Guitars Samick Greg Bennitt with me Wilkinsons except Solo which was widerling on Gibo SG
All amplified though Blackstar HT 20 heads emulated out.

No EQ
No effects

I think the Samick with the Wilkinsons is just RAW with the Black stars ISF all the way to USA setting.

This is great James, default/smile  I don't have the gear to do backing and drum tracks, even if I did I wouldn't have a clue how to use it, (shame on me)  default/hmm

Re: Going Nowhere

No I don't have any of this,  default/hmm  I record straight on to a little Tascam DP400 pocket studio, I just use it like the old cassette recorder, switch it on, play and record it then put it on the computer via USB lead, then upload it to wherever, Nothing fancy here I'm afraid,  default/sad

Re: Going Nowhere

Plus I can send you ez drummer its as easy as drag and drop.. default/big_smile

If you could send me the music file with no vocal to going somewhere I will try to work some magic and send you it  back.  You got my e-mail then you could send me the vocal and I will try to edit that up.

Our if Poly makes the same offer I suspect he could do far better then me........

Re: Going Nowhere

like you say james the vx and guitar need to be on separate tracks
to do any serious editing/adding etc ..plus the tempo needs to be consistent throughout
the song ( playing to a drum machine is an ideal way of doing this )
so cutting and pasting in a sequencer can be as seamless as possible

if recordings are done like this its easier to pass them round and use on different daws
reaper seems an excellent starting point for anyone wanting to record on a
computer and like you say its free....being in standard pitch goes without saying

Re: Going Nowhere

the tascam dp004 is a 4 track recorder with a built in metronome
so doing a separate vocal and guitar track should be quite straightforward
these could then be transferred as mono 16bit 44.1khz wav files to
a computer converted to mp3 and sent anywhere you fancy
http://www.mediafire.com/?2gkkin2gm2daojj
having said that if the wav files are not too large they could be emailed as is .. ( <25meg? )

Re: Going Nowhere

I use Cool Edit Pro, have been using that for a great many years, i find this the best recording medium to use as it has vast editing capabilities, and is compatible with so many other music programs.
