Topic: Well I actually played last night...

After damaging my ear 3.5 months ago, (note to self never stand next to the amps when watching a metallica tribute band), my ear is finally feeling a lot better, so when I got back in last night I got the ESP off the wall, and played (badly LOL), but had fun, and I'm going to attempt to play more regularly now  default/big_smile

Re: Well I actually played last night...

know what you mean ...i have permanent high freq loss and tinnitus as a result of playing and  working in v loud studios/bands...you must wear good ear defenders when listening ( or playing) very loud music ( not ear plugs )you'll hear all the music clearly but at attenuated volumes  dont forget ear damage is irreversible esp high freq

quick fix...if your at a very loud gig..roll a bit of tissue up into a pea sized ball ...wet it ( with saliva ..or if your from yorkshire ..spit) ..and gently block your lug hole ( dont push it into the ear )

this is better than getting your ears blasted...make sure you take it out though before someone starts nibbling your ear

Re: Well I actually played last night...

I had ringing ears a few weeks backs because my student neighbors thought it was a good idea to scream and play music till four in the morning........Thats not why I had ringing ears........So i fired up both my peavey and blackstar and played them a selection of Stock Atkin and Waterman, at full belt, starting at six in morning......The joy of 80s music......

Strange thing was I had one frequency ringing in my right ear, but my left ear was switching from a high frequency to a very high one....

I was gonna try to record it and use it song default/lol  default/lol  default/lol  default/lol  default/lol

Imagine if the words of Imagine ever came true.....

That isn't good Poly - do you find this negatively affects your recording work now?

Re: Well I actually played last night...

it must hear a mix slightly different to ' normal listeners ' the main issues are cymbals / hihats
etc....but i hate cymbals anyway...cant see the point of them..so i never use them ( hardly )...i've got use to this though and never have any trouble with recording or mixing...sometimes somebody might pipe in and say ' the hihats are a bit loud...but thats about it ( so i've got use to mixing hihats a bit lower )
but i would really take the http://www.hear-more.com/musician.htm advise very very seriously

i wonder how beethoven went about it??...mind you with some of the sh!te being produced today
i bet he wouldn't have it any other way
