I have trained myself not to use the pinky and just go on with the other fingers and the strumming, but I guess that’s also another way in playing the guitar in a professional level. I could never have the patience to change my strumming method after all these years.

I suffer from the same problem I can’t put two and two together. It always happens when I start a song. But when I don’t think about wanting to write a song it just keeps flowing naturally.
