Bending a Note

What is the best way to apply note bending. I know this is the most common technique but I always feel that some of the fretting-hand techniques are what I struggle with. Is it easily accomplished on a acoustic or an electric guitar ?

Iron Maiden used Marshall JM 50 Amp. This is a rare vintage amp from 70s and really worth something now. At that time only 500 were made for Iron Maiden to take to their tours.
