Personally, I've found a lot of new guitar players try to wear their guitar way too low to try to look cool like some of the pros do. I can't understand how they can play that way. You have to bend your wrist at more of an angle and it just feels wrong to me. I wear my guitar above my waist and can play a lot easier. I don't know if this is what you're doing but something to keep in mind anyway.

Awesome guitarist. One of my favorite players. Had the pleasure of seeing him in concert before he died. He did have a unique style. Never used any effects, just his guitar and an amp. He played an old Tele, I believe it was a '52 or '53. He was using pinch harmonics back in the early 60's before anyone new what they were. He also used the volume knob a lot. He'd turn the volume all the way down, hit a note(or 2) then slowly turn the volume up. He'd also use the tone knob turning it from bass to treble getting a wah effect. Basically that's what a wah wah does anyway. A guitar player friend of mine knew Roy personally and told me when he used to go see Roy play in the small clubs in Maryland, Roy used to turn his back to him whenever he did something unusual so he couldn't steal it from him. Roy ended up showing him some things and he in turn showed them to me. What a treat for me. I think you can find some videos of Roy on youtube.

Hi everyone. I'm Gene. I'm a veteran player still checking out the forums to keep learning. I'm 59 years old and have been playing since I was 7. I've been in several bands over the years including rock bands, country bands, wedding bands and top 40 bands. I'm currently playing with an Elvis tribute show traveling from New Jersey to Phoenix, Az and having the most fun I've ever had playing guitar. My first love is the blues and my favorite players are Eric Clapton, B.B. King and Roy Buchanan . There are others that I like also but these 3 are my main influence. I'm hoping to learn more things and maybe help someone else if I can. Looking forward to talking with everyone.
