I would like some advice on getting my guitar to sound like a blues guitar, not all the time just when i want to learn the blues.
I once heard you take a breath of air, play (no music) a down stroke and start the blues on the up stroke

I think maple necks give a cleaner sharper sound than rosewood, they also seem to be a bit faster,

You know, I haven't really listened to music other than the free radio blues stations so I guess I'm not into any bands like I was when I was a teenager 
When you are nearing 60 I kind of think we never out grow the bands that we like when we were 16

writing your own songs should help you out (just tell yourself, not to write a crappy song)

if you check out the tab section I've posted some songs there that can get you started
of course you need to understand how to read a tab, but I think in 5 minutes you'll get the basic down
I like to watch any of the martial art sports on TV, but it is rare since it doesn't bring in much ad revenue, try to watch it in person but I don't have the free time when the tournaments are on.
