Here is an overseas update:
I was looking on my shelf and I notice that the glass slide I bought a few years back has just been laying there. Need to pick it up I guess.
But anyway, are you a glass or metal slide user. I've never used metal. I do like the balance of the glass slide I do have.
Any of you know a site or use a site for slide guitar instructions that are free
thanks
To answer my own question. Yes, well, I think it can put me in a different musical enviroment and you can explore new musical ideas
Where I live, it is "you are here illegally and you have only a few rights", but deportation is almost always guaranteed. I think that is the way it should be. I had to do everything right to live and stay in this country so I might be quite harsh on my opinion, but people who break the law sometimes end up breaking the law again and again.
here's an article about the situation in Arizona
I recently became excited over a demo I had done of one of my songs, but I seem to have made a mistake (again ) on how I should have approached this situation before the demo was to be made. At my age and experience in life I should have had the understanding on at least an intelligent way to have gone about this . I think I failed terribly. I found a website that tried to help me out. If any of you like to PM me, I will tell what had happened.
When you listen to a song and you hear some famous licks in the songs of other players in their songs, does it bother you.
I listen to a lot of blues and I notice it and I really think it makes the song sound cheap and with no creation of the guitarist
My question I guess is , how can I make my wrist when strumming feel more at ease, just seems to be "muscles are not loose" enough to get a more relax feeling in my strumming
Jeff Beck is the man
Has that special magic in his play'n
Really, anyone that can pick and strum the guitar that makes beautiful music.
For rock it would have to be Jeff Beck
For others it would have to be Roy Clark, Les Paul and all the great country guitar pickers out there. Here are a few:
Flatt & Scruggs @ Foggy Mountain Breakdown
Jerry Byrd @ Panhandle Rag
Tom & Jerry @ Golden Wildwood Flower
Tommy Jackson @ Cotton-Eyed Joe
Del Wood @ Down Yonder
The Stanley Brothers @ Orange Blossom Special
Buck Ryan @ Beaumont Rag
Walter Haynes @ Crawdad Song
Bill Wimberly @ Ragtime Annie
Louisiana Hayride Gang @ Hayride Rag
My wife is a cat lover so we have a cat, Himalayan cat. And I have a dog, Papiyon (sp) and they are both indoor pets.
I think a home with pets indoors brings us closer to God's creations.
I think for me, it was a childhood dream to have a Fender guitar. Well I think at the age of 39 my dream came true. The Fender I bought has that childhood memory of the "Fender magic tone" as I rememebered as a child.
My acoustic, it was the beautiful wood/finish that kept my eye on the guitar until I saved up enough money to buy it. I've seen guitars in the states costing up to $800 for the type of wood and about the same tone, but this one is made in Indonesia and they are famous for its wood finishes there. And I felt it was a bargain at the price they were asking for. I'm very happy with it and it sounds wonderful with a Dean Markley "pro-mag" pickup in it.
Well, normally I don't eat breakfast, but the wife ask me to make the rice and she bought some bacon (which is a real treat). So it looks like bacon, eggs and rice and coffee for breakfast. I can see me working it off riding the bike to the library this afternoon.
On the open Cmaj7 a G,F, E on the 1st, D and open B on the 2nd, same on the Fmaj7, a G on the 1st string for the Fm6, on the two D9 and C9 add a note on the 1st string two frets up with your little finger- don't forget to add a Abmaj7 to the Cmaj7 and Bbmaj7 when you move down the fretboard, John- and end or start your verse with a Cmaj scale played from D to D- D E F G A B C D, then the open Cmaj7 again.
I came up with Cmaj7, C9, Fmaj7, Fm6, Cmaj7, D9, then Cmaj7 up the fretboard, Bb maj7, Abmaj7, Fm6 and the open Cmaj7, in that order.
aussie, thanks for taking your time to explain. I'm still on smoothing out the chord changing , and the tone is finally settling into my ears, such a beautiful tone coming from them chords. can't wait till it really comes out smooth. Would you have what you said on printed word excel, the chord charts and the other stuff you mention. Might be a little easier for me to follow, but I'm try'n my hardest to understand what you are teaching me. Expect more question from this old timer LOL
Actually this does look like a really good site. It is very similar to Guitar Pro in how it functions though all from your browser!
Love it!
olly, do you have Guitar Pro on your computer
I've got version 5 but I rarely use it
This article explains the difficult situation when foreign companies go to china for cheap labor. The Chinese companies are looking even for cheaper labor so they are moving inland where labor is still cheap. The problem is, who is going to do the farming.

I tried everything, cycle shorts, new saddle, nothing worked for me. Before I moved down to England I cycled from my house in Glasgow to Loch Lomond and had to phone my wife to come and get me halfway back; I could go no further!!!
Wasn't for me.
gosh mikey, that's not too cool
actually if you hang in there and go at it slowly I think over time you'll be a biker
heck I'm in my mid 50's and I can go 6 hours on bicycle, but recently the sun is a bit too hot for me, so I should say during peak summer , maybe now 3 hours
What are the temperatures like over there? I thought the climate was pretty temperate.
asian sun is very strong and deadly this time of year. It's not unusal to see all the leaves turn brown (trees) that are in potted plants. Really the sun beats down hard on you. I never really mind it, but these days it seems to have a penetrating force to it. You can just feel the rays go through your body

That is the aim! I'm still not 100% happy with my tone at lower volumes - still searching to find something that works for me!
I think it maybe cheaper to put in a quality speaker in your amp then buy , buy, buy and maybe still not be statisified
at least that worked for me
I was just here practicing what aussie sent me over and I looked at my gear (not much) and I thought it would be a good question.
I like what I have. In a way I'd like to have a cut a way country guitar. Other than that I am statisfied at least today I am . LOL
My setup is a Fender Telecaster and a 1985 Marshall lead 20
I have a few pedals, but I think I mention them in another thread. I am happy with what I got and the tone I get is pleasing.
Lower labour costs, and no unions, maybe? D'Addario ( $AUD 15 to 20 ) have a Darco range which is assembled in Mexico as well, sell for around nine bucks a set here. I didn't use anything special or change strings more than every five or six months until one day I backed a friend on his CD and heard the first run we did from months back- wow, the lack of resonance and attack after the strings were older changed my mind fast, and so did the DR's and Dr Tomastic Plectrum strings he was using on his gear...they left the Fender's I had on for dead.
Really, if you can improve your sound so much- and the increased speed and lack of finger-scrape if you use coated strings- for the sake of 5 or 10 bucks every three months or so I think it's well worth it.
I suggest people change their strings every four months if they are a basic student, and three or less months when they are more advanced or are playing more.
Elixers, John, are not a cheap string..they are 35 bucks a set here when a good set is $20 and a cheap but OK set like the Darco's is half that, but I'm convinced that if you were to try DR's, or Plectrum, or best of all Elixers, you wil notice a remarkable lift in brightness and tonal response, and speed as well.
I'm going to check on the price of Elixers and let you know how much they sell here for. That is if the store carries them.

I asked that, because I find myself not really doing it much these days. I mean I play guitar a lot and almost everyday but concentrating more than 5 minutes seems to be a challenge these days.
Any of you have the same problem
