Protein is protein! And maybe a little chitin for roughage...

Just guessing here, but I would think that putting it more leftward allows you to unbend the right arm for more comfortable use of the hand for all the fingerwork of classical, whereas pulling to the right leg might be more natural for strumming.

Speak of the devil, there's an ION turntable at http://www.woot.com/ for $60 right now. Woot deals are over at midnight, so act now!

The vid looks like the reaction of a teacher when someone throws a paper airplane in class. With more colorful language, lol.

Turntables are seeing a revival lately. Quite a few under a $100 US on Amazon, and others for not much more. Seems worth it if you have a large collection.

bog seat? Never heard it called that on my side of the pond, lol.
I'd think women would be happy to see the seat "up." It means the guy bothered to move it out of the way.  Better that than a seat that's down, but tinkled upon.

Yep. Or used to, when I was a kid because the family did. But I got away from it.

How about ketchup on pork roast?

I know there's a generational thing. But I'm trying to see beyond that, if imperfectly.

Well, lets just say I'll be posting in the newbie forum. Learning guitar is still a goal...and I bought a rebranded Martin acoustic a couple years ago that's pretty lonely right now. As for music, there's stuff I enjoy in most genres. Good music is good music. Exploring indies at the moment. I've discovered a passion for Ingrid Michaelson recently!

What do you use now? iPod or another Mp3 player?

MacBook / iPod mainly. I still have a single-drawer DVD hooked up in a traditional stereo system, though I only use that when I'm in the mood for a specific CD. I happen to have Chantacleer's How Sweet the Sound sitting in there at the moment, truth be heard.

Radio is covered by BMI, too, so that coffee shop may have still owed. Unless it was really small, maybe.

Good read. The real money is always made on the next frontier, not at the tail end of an old industry. The question should not be, "How do I stop MP3s?" but rather "How do I make money from MP3s?"

A lot has happened since 03 when that was written; I think Apple is one example of a company who went for the frontier and cashed in while the labels stumbled  around fuming so much about piracy so much that they missed the market until it was too late...Apple had it tied up.

I think there's a similar story in alternative energy, but I digress.

I grew up with Yes & Kansas & in the 70s etc. Commercialized progressive rock that purists would not even call prog rock, I know, but these guys had some really talented players behind the slick face. They weren't afraid to crank away on an instrumental stretch between the hooks. They may have their money on the top 40, but you could tell they knew their stuff. Seems like popular stuff today (some of which I do enjoy, TBH) is backed up by studio musicians who are competent but not particularly innovative. Is that day gone...or am I just old?

Being an externally motivated person, I've thought about taking group lessons at a community college to get started.  Inexpensive and not that threatening, but encourages progress.

Learning guitar is still on my to do list, and I've started, but not gotten far.

One thing that seems to be difficult is getting that ring finger of my left had to cooperate for chords. Neither strength nor coordination seems up to par to the rest of the fingers. Event the pinkie does better.

Am I alone in this struggle?  default/smile
