AND........why is alcohol legal???? ( apart from no one dare make it illegal )
the whole thing seems hypocritical

Both alcohol and most drugs were freely available until 1926 when the newly formed DEA in America banned everything. But because there was such a backlash against alcohol being banned, and because of the racketeering and the high number of gangland wars and killings, it was decided to legalise alcohol again. Drugs such as weed, heroin, and cocaine were not really used as much back then, so it was decided that it would not legalise them because of their high addictiveness, especially with the coke and the smack, which had a high death rate as well. Weed was included because not enough was known about it, so they decided to lump it in with all the other dangerous drugs. Also the government reaps a huge amount of tax out of alcohol, which is why one of the most addictive and dangerous drugs in the world has never been outlawed, Tobacco.

Good stuff there sben.  But I don't agree with the last statement.

"I recommend not having your students pay after every class, or in advance. Do some classes, then mention money. The idea being to not stress out your students, you want them to keep coming back, and teaching guitar is not the road to riches, So you should be pretty laid back about money anyway. "

I completely disagree with this statement. I am a full time guitar teacher, this is how i make my living. I advertise, students reply from advert. When they come for first lesson they know how much to pay, and pay at the end of the lesson. I have students coming now for 3 years or more, and all are happy to pay on time every time.

Hi Rick, good to see you here  default/smile  I looked at the acoustic several times, loved it but as I still have the Yamaha 12 string I bought off you several years ago, It seemed the perfect reason to go electro/ acoustic,  the moment I saw and played  this one I had to have it,  default/cool  default/roll

Hey Alun, was that the APX 12?

I quit smoking just before Alun did, and i found it easy. How? I just realised one day i no longer enjoyed smoking, and just quit. I am a great believer in if you don't enjoy doing something you stop doing it.

Hey guys, guess i am a noob here, but a veteran of many a guitar forum, especially Guitar Zone (formally GTU).

Anyways, My name is Rick, and i have been playing guitar for around 21 years, and now make my living as a guitar teacher, in Adelaide Australia, Where i have lived for the last 5 years, after emigrating there from West Sussex UK.

I am a bit of a guitar nerd, as i don't just like playing them, i enjoy constructing guitars from parts i find on ebay. I used to do a lot of buying and selling guitars on ebay, and found some real treasures.

My taste in music is pretty eclectic, and believe there is good and bad in all genres of music, "yes even pop and country" lol. But my prefered choice in listing is Classic Rock, Prog Rock, Blues, and Folk music.

I Spend all of my week playing and teaching guitar, so at the weekends i play drums in a 60s Rock and Roll band, which is a great outlet, and enormous fun.

Ok thats me basicly , oh i am Married and a Grandfather, great to meet you all.

Rick.

Hi Alun, i didn't get where i am today by being there, so i went somewhere else.

Sweet buy on the ashton 12. Mine is just an Acoustic. when i went looking for a 12 string, i tried out a great many, some almost 5 times the price i paid for mine, and i just kept going back to it. I wasn't going to buy it because of the price, it was just to cheap, but it felt just right, and had a great sound, so despite the fact it was cheap, i bought it anyway. I am so glad i did, It's a great guitar.

Moral of the story is, just coz it's cheap, doesn't mean it's gonna be a crap guitar.

I no longer use multi effects, as i prefer to controllability of individual effects.
