String Skipping in A minor, with Tablature.
Very good to everyone! For today's video I have done this String Skipping exercise. For those who do not know this technique, say that it is based on playing a melody jumping on one or more strings. In this case I play strings one and three, jumping on the second one. In the video I talk about aspects that I consider important, especially the movement of the pick and the placement of the left hand, essential to sound clean. I hope you like it!

Using the modes, displaying them on the neck and combining them with each other is something that takes more than one lead guitarist. Many people who write to me asking about this problem and how to solve it. In this exercise what I try to show is a practical way to be able to exchange them and especially within the tempo.
1. Creation Of A Phrase And Melodic Analysis
In this step what we are going to do is create a phrase in Ionic mode, it does not matter what tonality (I propose Ionian G). It is important for the exercise to be complete that all the degrees of the mode appear in this sentence. Once created, we analyze the degrees that appear in it.
2. Modal Exchange
Once the analysis of our phrase is done, we do the same but in all modes and keeping the same tone. That is, if we have made a phrase in Ionian G, we do the same but in Doric G, Phrygian G, Lydian G, etc. In this way, we can see how the degrees of the mode vary depending on the mode in which I am. Keep in mind that the more octaves I use and positions to make my phrase, the more complex it will be (and more complete). Adapt this concept to your level.
3. Using The Metronome
After viewing the modes and changing the degrees in each mode, my recommendation is to use the metronome: set a tempo to play the mode and a distance in bars for the mode change. For example: playing at 120 bpm and between modes and leaving a measure of difference. This is especially important, because with the use of the metronome I will be able to know at what speed I am able to switch modes and it is a very useful way to quantify my improvement. In addition, having the ability to visualize the modes at the moment is extremely important to play styles where modal exchange is frequent (jazz, fusion, blues, ...) also in a concert or jam session you will rarely have time to take a few minutes to think.

Knowledge of arpeggios is paramount in a guitarist and one of the most complex technical concepts to practice. For this reason I have created this exercise that I highly recommend, where major, minor and diminished triads appear in all positions and tones. As with music it is sometimes easier to understand the concepts seeing and listening to it than speaking, here I upload a video from my YouTube channel where I explain the exercise in detail and playing it at different speeds to practice.
The exercise is based on four points:
-Arpeggios are ordered by the fourth cycle. If we start with the C triad, then the Fa triad would come, then B flat, etc ...
-An attempt will be made to move the hand through the mast as little as possible, in this way many more positions appear (I recommend watching the video to understand this concept).
-The arpeggios will be played up and down for the pick to work in two directions.
-The exercise will be played, as long as it sounds good and the technique is correct, at the highest possible speed. Not only because of gaining speed and technique with the instrument, but because in this way we force ourselves to be clear about the positions of the arpeggios. I explain myself better: you cannot play an arpeggio at high speed if you are not clear where each note of it goes. I recommend using the metronome to quantify speed.

And today I reach the end of my challenge of playing the full Iron Maiden album, Powerslave. As many of you know, the album ends with this spectacular song: The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, a 13-minute song with lots of parts, lots of riffs, licks and solos.
It has been an odyssey and a pleasure to be able to take out the disc, I learned a lot and I had a great time. As always, very grateful with each positive comment, with each subscription to the channel and with each sharing. Up the Irons!

Today I have to upload the theme Powerslave, which gives its name to the album. This one in particular is one of the ones I like the most and where it contains one of the best solos, not only from the album, but from the entire Iron Maiden discography. As many of you will know, it is an album that has many different and long-lasting parts, so it has not been easy to record it although I have enjoyed it as a kid.

Hello friends! I tell many of my students that my beginnings with the guitar are summed up in me sitting in front of my home computer, putting themes and themes of Iron Maiden and taking out of my ear every nice guitar that I could distinguish. I didn't know about scales, or harmony, not even the notes I was playing, I simply limited myself to taking out everything I could, without sheet music, tabs, or videotutorials, just with what I heard through the PC's speakers. I got to spend so many hours doing this that I could eventually play Maiden records by heart.
After a few years I wanted to play again those songs that made me learn so much, so I decided to take all the guitars (solos, melodies and riffs) from one of my favorite albums, the Powerslave, and go Uploading a topic every Monday. In the end I will make a video playing the entire album if I can mount it and youtube leaves me (which is already putting a lot of hits lol).
Today I upload the first track of the album. The support is very much appreciated and shared. I hope you like it!
