Hey people,

I've had a guitar for the past 3 or so years now- an ESP LTD, M-50. I had guitar lessons for a few months and was progressing very well, until they had to be cancelled for some irrelevant reason.

I've been chipping away at it for the past 2 or so years, but don't seem to have progressed much at all. Since my lessons were stopped only a few months in, I was still at a very basic level and seem to have been stranded in that rut since.

I learned (and have now forgotten) pentatonic scales in the key of A and G, and a few songs so my chord knowledge spans about a dozen chords tops.

Basically, I just seem to be repeating the very simple songs and scales I learned, and have learned only a few riffs and so on. I mean, where do I go from here? I feel completely frustrated because my improvisation is non-existant, my fingering fairly clumsy and my music reading pitiful.

I was wondering if any of you could tell me where to go from here- names of simple songs/riffs to get started, or maybe a point in the direction of scales or special guitar fingering or any sort of guitar theory I should pick up before I go on. I think maybe starting from the bottom up will help get back on track and maybe get me motivated again, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Had a beautiful ESP LTD M-50 for about 3 years, but still very basic in my ability to play, so hopefully I can pick up some advice and help along the way.

Cheers.
