Where to start with songwriting

This is a question stumble on
I have never managed to write a song as I can never know where to start.
How do you go about starting to write a song from scratch?

most of my friends did by playing the chords first then the rest drums, lead and bass follows.
but for me, i start with solo tone melody alone(like human voice), then i figure out how to expand it.

I'm new to guitar music so I'm not good in song writing on guitar. So I need help from your site on the guitar practicing and how to improve my playing to any song I hear?Please I need your help and send e-mail to me everyday and it will be very much useful to me.

Learn the chord progressions and lyrics from your 5 favorite songs and mix and mash them up into something on your own. Make it like a collage. This is easier than starting from scratch and you learn from master songwriters at the same time.
