Hello.
I am new to playin the guitar.I can`t seem to cover the frets and strings as my fingers don`t seem to stretch that far.I assume it is all down to strengthening and training the fingers.Has anyone got any tips for stretching them please?
Thanks
Gavin

The video posted is useful especially for your fingers' coordination, for stretching i suggest you to learn 3 notes per string scale positions, my fingers got pretty elastic practicing espacially on that. Then you can also try by using your middle finger instead of your ring finger where you have 2 intervals of 1 tone, like in the first 3 notes of the G major scale:
E|--3--5--7--
i m l
so you use your index finger on the third fret, the middle on the 5th and the last finger on the 7th

this is all very true ...but it can lead to bad technique...it can lead to ' why use my pinky
when i can reach with my third finger syndrone '
with proper technique and practice stretching capability will come naturally
unnatural stretching can be avoided by good positional playing' and techniques such
as 'tapping'
for any beginner having lessons its one fret one finger ie 4 consecutive frets played by 4 consecutive fingers
no compromise ...
