How young were you when you started playing your guitar? Did you start at a very young age? How did it go?

I started when I was about 8 but didn't play much. Took guitar lessons from about the ages of 10 - 12 then didnt really play until I was 18 then practiced hard from there!

I was introduced to guitars at a very young age because my brothers will play all day and night but I wasn't really playing it. I was just there to watch them play with their bands. I tried learning when I was 15 cos I got really envious at those cool chicks who can play with it. LOL!

I started playing blues guitar around 10, but that didn't really stick, I hated the lessons. Then when I was 14 I picked it back up again and started self teaching, been playing ever since. I guess it was probably a summer camp that got me playing again, but it would have happened anyway.

There might be many situation when someone can start at certain age but teenagers are being attracted more(IMO) so I also being caught in this age. I know many people who have God given abilities and opportunities and they have started it very early ages. Atmosphere also effects a lot. If someone would has an active guitarist in family, definitely he will be in the business at early ages.

Yes I think that it right. Guitar music and bands in general are getting more popular which is great for the guitarist.
I didn't have the benefit of learning from anyone else. i had to do it on my own and looking for resources on the internet.
I think it would be much easier if you have someone to guide you through and ensure you do not pick up bad habits.

I remember first time when I held my brother guitar at the age of 12. He didn't play much so I got the Guitar and start playing from 14.

Yes it is true but if it is a pleasure to learn anything on our own. Even I have observed that such learning is more effective and such guitarists are better guitarists.

I think that learning on you're own is good, but finding other guitarists to play with is also important, not necassarily lessons, but even someone to learn along side of.

Well, I am not denying that but someone can learn very well(Advanced techniques and other stuff) if he started to learn on his own.

I started playing guitar when I was 18. I know it’s quite late for start playing, the more early you start playing the more you gets perfect. But I didn’t take any classes, I learnt myself with the help of online tips and techniques.

I don't think starting at 16 is too late- most people do not have teh ability to focus on their skill until at least 16. As you are older you are able to be more self diciplined.
I did learn when I was young but onl the basic skills which allowed me to then pick it back up when I had grown up and focus on what I wanted to achieve.

it is never too late, what matter is how fast you would learn all of those stuff and put them together.

I've been fiddling around with it since I was about 13 but really haven't gotten serious until about a year ago. I haven't taken any lessons and have been teaching myself just like my dad taught himself.
I hope to keep playing for the rest of my life.
