Drop D tuning - String Breakage Issue

Is it normal to bust a string every time I try to tune low E to D? Been trying to learn a song that uses this tuning, but I get nervous when I'm adjusting the tuning peg. Had one break last night and feels sketchy when I try it so usually leave it close but not quite there. Thanks.

Uhhhh no, that’s isn’t normal at all. You are tuning the low E-string DOWN to D right?

Are you sure you're tuning DOWN to D and not UP to the next D? Like you shouldn't break a string when you're loosening it...

It happens to everyone at some point, glad you were able to correct the tuning direction.
