Hey folks, I've been jamming with a few mates recently, and it got me thinking about the role of the guitar in a band compared to other instruments. I play mostly rhythm, but sometimes I find myself wanting to step into more melodic lines or solos. Do you think the guitar is more versatile than, say, a bass or keyboard in a band setting? How does everyone balance rhythm and melody in their playing? Just curious about how others approach this and what you reckon makes the guitar unique in terms of its contribution to a band's sound.
