How Do You Make Your Guitar Speak Emotion?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to delve deeper into my playing and really want to convey more emotion through my guitar. I’ve got the basics down, but when I listen to some of my favourite players, it feels like they're telling a story with every note. I’m not quite there yet and wondering what specific techniques you all use to get that emotional response in your music. Is it mainly about dynamics, or do you think it’s more about phrasing and note selection? Any tips or examples would be really appreciated!
