I always struggle writing my own material - I know its in there somewhere but unfortuantely I can never express it.

How many people have written their own songs and how did you go about it.

Please share any links to your own efforts

well i have made many solos,,never put them on net or anythin
i cant write,not good in lyrics part--tht is done by others in band

So are you ina band?

Can you send over some of your solos? Love to hear them

not songs, just lyrics but i was discontented with it so I distroyed them.

I have never written my own songs before. I wish I had the talent to write them but alas, I do not.

Even i also never written any songs, but one time i try myself i just find lyrics....

I'm not in a band at the moment but the previous bands I've been in I've found jamming in the studio we've came up with our best songs. Black Sabbath Paranoid springs to mind, they wrote that in a about 5 minutes jamming in the studio.

I write poetry which I have occasionally put to music. I've got a very streety folksy (read easy to play) sound though.. so not much interest to real players lol

I have a few songs written, and some recorded. So where can i put them.




And Alun i have a Recording of your song Somewhere Something, so if you want to put the lyrics up, i will add the recording. I think i got that Beatles tribute song you wrote somewhere as well.

let a third party ( rickyb ) have a go at your songs
you might be pleasantly supprised..and what have you got to loose
most people are hypocritical of their own stuff anyway...but if someone wants
to do them....go for it

Nah, i respect Aluns decision, and i understand why. maybe one day we can do a joint effort over the internet.

fair enough...so just keep writing them and throwing them away

I think thats an unfair comment. No song is ever thrown away.

any song thats shelved/discarded/abandoned/dumped etc needlessly
is thrown away/wasted....i cant think of any other way to put it
i think if anyone writes an 1/2 decent song it deserves all the attention it can get
and exploited in a positive manner by all interested parties
....you never know it might be a future no1..but not by...shelving/discarding/abandoning or dumping it...so best of luck with aluns song...i'll buy it

The song has never been dumped or wasted. I play it on a regular basis, when i am playing songs to myself. I enjoy it and identify with it. Alan has published it on this forum, so that is an end of it. I respect Aluns wish not to put it on here, and he has replied by doing it himself.
I know i chose to publish some song and not others, because they are to personal to myself. But they are never wasted as long as i keep playing them.

to forget something..you have to know what it was in the first place
so you're right....its not forgotten...but now i am wondering what i am
