Topic: Bends

One of the most basic(just for me i guess) and important technique to use in guitar playing. Try to use two finger when you do one, i see lots of newbies tries to bend with just one i tell it will never work and sound right. A couple of practice suing the pentatonic scale and it would get you fingers stronger.

Re: Bends

Great tip.

Especially if you have to bend using your third and fourth finger.

I always would use my first, second (and third when avialable) behind the finger doing the bend.

This gives the most accurate fluid bend and allows you to hold it in a steady stable fashion

Re: Bends

Yeah but most of the time i use the third and fourth fingers. this gives me more power and accuracy to the note i am trying to achieve.

Re: Bends

heh, I consider my Calluses badges of honor! The mark of a serious guitarist! Back on topic, you can bend and open string by applying pressurenear the bolts at the top of the guitar, makes a cool sound!

Re: Bends

Yeah it is kinda odd i see most guys bend just one? this makes your sound un controlled

Re: Bends

at times one finger can be used but then only when u do 1/4 or 1/2 bend,, tht is still fine,, but then tht is just in case, u playin fast or somethin
two fingers is the best option

Re: Bends

i do understand the technique of bending. it could be half tone or full tone.
but all this while, what is the different between bending few times rapidly and vibrato terms in classical? instead of bending your finger up and down, vibrato moves it back and forward rapidly on the same note. the soound is almost the same but i've learned that bending is not allowed in classical.

Re: Bends

hmm so classical never allowed those? don't know that one thanks.

Re: Bends

that's what i've been tought.
as for my experiment done, maybe it's true.
classical use nylon string that's not suitable for bending.
even if you bend it,  you won't get the bending effect as much as steel string. it's really hard to get even 1/2 notes bending sound.
why don't you figure it your own and comment here?

Re: Bends

what do you mean by classical. are there different kind of string for every guitar. well i only interested to play those traditional guitars. i mean the non electric guitars. are those classical ones.

Re: Bends
