<r>They are awesome and there are lots of different combinations that you can use them. They are great for syncing up all 4 fingers with 4 pick strokes, but as mentioned above - use different types of exercises to "trick" the fingers and keep them guessing.<br/>

Are you going for acoustic or electric guitar? in my opinion acoustic's are just difficult to play on for beginners so if you go this route I would suggest getting a cheaper classical guitar or anything that has nylon strings - they sound killer too.<br/>
