Beginner To The Guitar, Need Advice!

Post by keybear »

Alright chaps!

I'm totally new guitar and was thinking about buying one soon. I decided to take it up as side hobby and wondered how far i could possibly go.

I haven't bought one yet and need some good advice. I need to know what type shall i get and i need to know all about sheet music.

So any good recommendations on which guitar i should actually buy. I don't wonna be buying a really expensive one, just something for learning and progressing on.

Also anything else you would like to add, would be helpfull.

Thanks.

I would go for a cheaper guitar to start with to see if you like the instrument and are able to give the commitment and dedication to learning.

You can always upgrade at a later date to something nicer.

Don't worry about learning sheet music right now, get a simple chord book and maybe a book with songs by your favorite bands and get learning the chords for this.

Musical notation is not required for guitar to begin with - you may decide later on that you want to learn it which is fine but the bonus with guitar is that it's so simple to get started.

Good luck with it all

The sky is the limit.

Are you going for acoustic or electric guitar? in my opinion acoustic's are just difficult to play on for beginners so if you go this route I would suggest getting a cheaper classical guitar or anything that has nylon strings - they sound killer too.

If its an electric, try them all out, maybe even standing up. Then take it in order and don't be afraid to mess around and make some noise!
