Scooby wrote: its current, damaged, value
if it was me i would tell them that its worth f..all.( because nobody would want to buy it in that state )and claim for what it would cost to get it back to its pre damaged state ( no matter what the cost..they're to blaim and have accepted liability )
but to be on the safe side it would probably be better to to contact 'consumer rights' and see what your rights are
+ dont believe everything these people are telling you...most of its bullshit
i think the amp was about £250 new so a good s/h version would be worth about £125
anyway they cant even replace it ..they're not current any more???
cant you sell your git on ebay..then buy what you need?
find out what the current value is and advertise it accordingly
cant you poison the carrots
glad to hear your on the mend james..git playing is a good therapy for the hands...out of curiosity though..what sort of dog was it ?
definitely agree with that ...making sure you report to your teacher what you've been experimenting with and how your playing it
i bet the F# maj scale is a bit of a t***.... ( the A maj shape starting at the second fret )
esp if you've got arthritis....good therapy though if you try it now and again
i also think the two fingered method for the right hand always looks better and more natural for bass
...anyway keep it up and keep us posted on your progress
are you practising to backing tracks...i dont know of any bass players that have ever had dedicated ' bass guitar ' lessons ?..if not whats the method of practising
+ are you using a pleck / fingers or both ?
all i can say to certain people is...next time you want to know something....GO AND FIND A
( --------- ) BOOK ON IT
RE:rocksmith...anybody using it
BEST OF LUCK
when you buy a guitar you need advice off an experienced git player ...else you might finish up with a pile of sh!te..and would you know if it was or not....in a word 'NO'
when you start to learn guitar you need someone to point you in the right direction ie how to play
correctly....a teacher is not for life ..i had 3 lessons and it was the best bit of cash i ever spent
the ' self taught ' is not an option...if you buy a guitar tuition prog then you'er not self taught any more
whether you get a teacher or a prog thats your choice ..but dont try to teach yourself because you haven't got the know how
thats why music teachers ( progs?) are so valuable
he never had lessons on how to tune up...thats why they sacked the in tune bass player
eg:
i've got a great song here
so you put you first finger here ..or is it the second finger no its my thumb ...sorry my
pinkie...ok ...so now i put my pinkie there ..GOD FORBID YOU CAN PUT MY THIRD FINGER THERE ...OR MAYBE MY SECOND FINGER
BLIMEY I'M playing like bb whats is name
ROCK ON
or..get smart
in a nutshell ...do you want to learn to play the guitar properly...
or do you want to bodge your way to learning this or maybe that..and playing it
like this or maybe that
self taught musicians lack what profession teachers can offer them
so get smart and get educated ...sod the bravado!!
ps i am not a music teacher
all the help this forum can give is gladly available..as you know ...pity we aren't in a pub chatting without having to use bloody keyboards
read post 7...post 9 is a response to post 7
cheers

re youtube : there's also loads of rubbish on youtube ...if you're a beginner how do you know which vid is credible??????????how will you know????????
quote:Didn`t know there was such a racket going on
racket is a bit unfair ...' nobody knows they're made in the back streets of china ' is better
anyway:
good strategy...you know it makes sense...take care though ( with any files )
my strats ( japanese 1990 ) is a real hybrid..humbuckers / ffloyd /earvana nut / build in tuner / internal mike / internal transducer/re dressed neck etc etc ..its had them many mods its like a jackie stallone and worth f** all now..but theres no way i would part with it...its my best mate..hope yours serves you well
and thats good advice passed on...how can you teach yourself...not logical..but you dont have to necessarily have 'one to one' lessons..theres some great lessons on youtube...but...its nice to have someone who can oversee and make sure your not picking up any bad habits .. learning correctly is the main priority ..do yourself a favour ...dont have lessons of somebody that knows effall to start with ( mr myself )
before you start playing rock and blues?( this is a bit 'cart before the horse' ) ..you will need some beginners guitar lessons from a reputable teacher first..any half decent guitar will do to start with ( and will probably cost a lot a lot less than £500 ).. acoustic or electric..you must know someone who knows a bit about guitars ..get them to go with you to the music shop to select a guitar.. once again ..dont run before you can walk
you can play rock/blues or most anything else for that matter on electric or acoustic so forget about rock and blues at the moment and start at the beginning
you could put a fender logo on the headstock...theres no law against it ....unless...you try to sell it
as a genuine fender..you could put a generic neck on it..then put the original back when you come to sell it..( this would be my option )IMO designer stuff is the biggest con going.. a fender neck would be a generic neck with a fender logo added at the fender production lines..this would make it a genuine fender neck..and cost you £shed £oads ...what a load of bllx..dont get swollowed in
or buy a genuine 1979 fender neck with original frets ( EBAY ) for £550...then find out it needs re-fretting??
whats the problem with the original neck ?..some fretting problems can be sorted by just filing the frets..depends on the state of wear

my mate put a gibson logo on a les paul copy..nobody could tell the difference ..cared or give a sh!t..he was a great player and got a great sound out of whatever it was
if the string cant get past the peg when you tune up and there are no serious cracks everything should be ok...if the saddle is ok..no need to replace it just tune your guitar to the correct pitch
and keep your eye on the pegs..bottom line if the peg(s) wont hold the strings..then the hole(s) need plugging and redrilling..but it shouldn't come to that
theres some good refretting vids on youtube..but if it is DIY make sure you've
got all the proper tools etc...not for the feint hearted..
alternatively you could get a generic neck ..theres loads about and they're an
easy replacement ( 4 screws )
i bought one and apart from not having 'fender' written on it .. it was identical
depends if you're the ' designer label ' type or not

there's 22parts to this and its DBX
thomasgraben wrote:(i.e. don`t worry about speed, until you can play the chords / licks accurately)
this is where the metronome comes in..learn to play something first correctly and accurately at a comfortable tempo..doesn't matter how slow..then ..increase the tempo of the metronome gradually ensuring that you can still play correctly and accurately ( of the same piece of music ) ..the rate of progression depends on the motivation to practice of any particular person
ps make sure you've got some strings and dots on your guitar
