I never knew this either!
In the UK we get it tax free and we can either make it public or remain anonymous if you choose!
I, unfortunately, am yet to win yet though - despite my best efforts!
Actually, I found out about the Japanese lottery by my wife winning over $1000 otherwise I would have never known about the system they use here. We only play it maybe 4 times a year and right now we are ahead
In this economy, it is kind of anyone's guess
Well, finally someone in politics admits "It just doesn't work" the happy marriage of working together and living side by side is all but a pipe dream

Does your country have a lottery
Here in Japan lottery winnings are completely tax free. So if you win 2 million dollars (¥200,000,00) you pay no income taxes on it and the fun part is that for the most part you get it the day you win. You just open a bank account at Mizuho bank and it is automatically deposited.
All money you win is paid at once, not over 20 years or so.
Never did understand why in America your winnings are paid over time.
And by the way you don't go on TV even if you are a big winner. It is all anonomously done
Playing the guitar does help in playing all types of string instruments, even the koto
A very helpful site for songwriters
http://www.jpfolks.com/
I came across this site by accident and at first I said "wow".
I think if you like to play this type of music and just expand your musical direction, this site is very good. Has like close to 4,000,000 views

nice very nice
a telecaster with a good sounding amp is so versatile
I bought mine is 92 and I agree the maple neck is best, which I have
so now post some of your music
I haven't seen it yet, but I wonder if the "Gibson" name made in China will soon be on the market
I had/have a picture of the Gibson plant in Shanghai that makes acoustics, but it show'd the boxes only with "made in China" so I still don't know if the Gibson name is still on the guitar
anyone know
wurzel wrote:well, for a start i go to shops etc during the week (absence of other customers), good time to try anything you fancy.
It really depends on what you want from your amp. In the case of the 'rat' i wanted that valve crunch at low levels, but i didn't want to be listening to the buzz and humm of badly placed, cheap components.
a boutique amp was out of the question for home practice(££££)
I had heard of , and researched rat amps, my prob was hearing one, which eventually i did...sold!!
The peavey serves a different purpose, extremely loud, keeps up with the drummer, no fragile valves so its more suited to lugging around and bumping about. real spring reverb which sounds ok..the 'crunch' channel (like most electronic amps is a bit poo..but its not an issue it's just for practice and you can always stick a pedal on the clean channel..which is highly detailed and superb!
never seen an amp that does it all, and all cheap amps have 'issues' some can be easily sorted just by ripping out the (usually) crappy speaker and putting in something bettr...if i was gigging i'd be using a valve driven amp, and you can be sure i will want to know what its built like, what components are used, and which factory produced it.. before i even turn it on!!.
you cant rely on a brand name these days.
Can't rely on brand names these days
You are so right
I was looking at Celestions Vintage 30 speakers and guess what
They are fk'n made in China these days, no wonder why Marshalls are so cheap to buy, they are putting in Chinese made speakers
Looks like I may end up looking at JBL or Jensens when the time comes to buying speakers
They just pulled up the first miner
yeah!
I recently saw a film, but don't know about the title. It was about a musician and his daily life problem with his illness
Not sure if this is true where you live, but here all Epiphones that are sold at most stores are made in China. I've owned a Gibson Les Paul and played the Les Paul Chinese made Epiphones, basically you are paying about 75% for the name only and the guitars that I have played cost about 550 bucks. My feelings were they were worth $125. Most Les Pauls copies made in china cost about 12 to 34 dollars to make. Of course, you have to buy these in lots of 100 , but here you can easily buy your strats, teles , Les Paul copies for under $150, most go for around 75 bucks to 120 bucks in the kids music magazines (song magazines).

This is my 'in house' amp. as well as the hand wiring and other mods by 'rat' i have fitted a 15w jensen alnico speaker.
not a cheap option,(although in no way the most expensive) but it is pure quality!!
not a great deal of 'clean' headroom, up to about half volume, but thats not what it's designed for. I believe the output is actually 7-8w post mods..
looks lovely too!! (imo)
I would very much like one of andys 15w plexi clones, (when i get flush).
I should also add that if your pick ups aren't of a reasonable standard, the amp will certainly let you hear it!!
i have a 1992 samick, fine with my peavey, loves the fender princetown..(both electronic, pcb's etc)
sounds awfull through the rat.
My 1950's audition with a single, toaster style pick up sounded like a £1000 axe when plugged in, and the strats really get the best out of it.
I use an old 80's peavey special 130 1x12, for band practice.
that's a nice look'n amp
fishfingers wrote:Good tip John thank you, plus green tea is good for weight loss.
that's true
I have a habit of having dinner like at 9pm because of work schedule so gaining weight for me can be easily had
hey olly
thanks for the site
nicely laid out to learn the scales
I do push-ups and fingertip push-ups and my fingers are still very loose and I'm getting up there in age.
Actually I notice if I drink green tea, drinking it really loosens me up a lot when I play for hours at a time
String changing for me usually happens around Christmas time and around July. I play the guitar everyday, but they seem to keep their brightness and tone ok, but when I put new ones on after 6 months it sounds like I have a new guitar
alun wrote:Olly wrote:Nasty one there
Do you think you will ever look to replace it at any point in the future?
I would love to, but way out of my league now, I'm looking forward to getting my Telecaster tomorrow,
Did you get your Telecaster yet

axis wrote:Food stamps are coupons for, well, food. (It used to be paper coupons, but now they are usually debit cards.) They can be used at any grocery store like cash, but only for food. States administer them, though the federal government supplies much of the money. Qualification is based on income, which needs to be at or below poverty level. Children can qualify even when their guardians cannot, depending on circumstances. The average food stamp allotment is $133.12 per person per month, which is not a big food budget in the US.
Thanks, you explained better than I could
I just saw on TV that in New York city you might not be able to buy soda with food stamps. I think it makes sense. Since one should buy fruit juice or milk.
From what I saw on BBC this morning, your leader is thinking a no nonsense way of government. Will it work, well I think people have to get away from the government helping them out with welfare first. But as we all know, it is a trap, not only for the people, but for the nation as a whole. One in eight Americans now are receiving food stamps.
My childhood dream was to have a fender guitar, that dream didn't come true for many years. One day I walked into a music store with cash in my pocket and the rest is history.
I walked out with a Telecaster Deluxe Plus (USA) new 1992 model and it's been with me since and yes it has that childhood memory " fender magic " I feel very lucky
Today I was playing E E E E A A E E B7 A E B7
Strumming and I was concentrating on letting my thumb with the slight movement in the wrist play this, I realize that I usually always move my whole arm when strumming and what a difference the other way is.
Do you guys feel the same
