This guitar is easily the best I've ever played, the maple fingerboard is so fast and smooth, it's very different to rosewood, also it has the Delta Tone, which cuts out the tone control and give's the p/u's as they really sound, I don't want to ramble on, but I thought I was to old to get this excited.  default/lol  default/lol

I would love to, but way out of my league now,  I'm looking forward to getting my Telecaster tomorrow,  default/smile

have you ever tried on Alun?

No not one of these, but Crate is a class make, Years ago we used to use old radiogram valve amps for guitar, they were low wattage and distorted easily,  default/lol

Alun - that is cool. I would love to have built my own guitar - how long did this end up taking and did you have to use specialist tools?

Thanks Olly,  default/cool It took about three months on and off, I had no specialist tool's, just a hand saw, hacksaw, electric drill, wood chisel, and a couple of screwdrivers,
Oh and a soldering iron, I have built other electric guitars prior to this one, but this is probably the best,
The neck came from a very early Japanese guitar, of which the name is long forgotten, it may have been an Orbit  default/roll
Anyway I shaved it right down to fit my hands, and dressed the frets almost flat with a file and oil stone, and reshaped the headstock,
The single coil is off a Kay, and the twin coil from an Axe guitar, I routed out for the p/u's with a chisel and filled in around them with a soundproof sponge, there is virtually no acoustic sound, It weighs about the same as a L.P. and is very well balanced, It does play and sound nice, I'm very pleased I built it.  default/smile

Not sure I agree with a lot of this default/sad  I believe many of the great blues guitarist's couldn't even read writing, let  alone music notation, I play by ear myself, I can't read music or tab, all looks a bit complicated to me, also as a guitarist I believe you need to have a bit of freedom in what you do, I jam with music readers and it all seems to go along fine  default/roll But like everything  else each to his or her own.  default/cool

Take a look at Blackheart Amps by Crate, they are doing a 1watt valve head,  default/cool

You have a good guitar there, Brilliant in fact for the money, I bought one for my eldest son, when they first came out, it was about £160 then,  I was proper impressed, brilliant action, and sound, and the finish was perfect. default/smile will last forever and probably become collectable in the future. A good choice.

Hello James, yes it plays very well, it has a very fast action, and also if you noticed in the pics it has a short scale only 19 frets,  default/smile

Has anyone ever built their own guitar? I built this one using pine and marine ply, It has a single coil in the bridge position, and a humbucker in the neck position, both p.u.'s are fairly cheap one's but the sound is good, I used gold plated Schaller machine head's and strap lock's, I have gigged with this guitar, It is now 17yrs old and going well.

I think maple necks give a cleaner sharper sound than rosewood, they also seem to be a bit faster,  default/roll
